Americans claim Memphis crown
Hutchins and Kerr lose out in second final of season…
Ross Hutchins and Jordan Kerr lost out in the final of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships to towering Americans Sam Querrey and John Isner.
The Anglo-Aussie duo went down 6-4 6-4 to the Davis Cup teammates, who earlier in the day had faced each other for the singles title.
For Querrey, who won the singles encounter, victory alongside his beaten compatriot gave him his second doubles title in two weeks after winning the SAP Open title in San Jose with Mardy Fish.
Hutchins and Kerr’s wait for a first title together goes on. After reaching the final of the Japan Open in 2009, they reached the title match at the Medibank International earlier in the season, losing out to Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic.
But their run to the final provided a timely boost to Hutchins’ ranking, sending him back into the world’s top 50 and reclaiming his spot as British No.1.
