Hutchins and Huss knocked out in first round…

Ross Hutchins and Stephen Huss are out of the LA Tennis Open after losing to Serbian Dusan Vemic and Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei 6-3 6-7(4) 10-6.

The Serbian-Chinese Taipei team, playing together for the first time, dominated on serve in the first set, connecting with 83% of their first serves while Hutchins and Huss landed only 52% in reply.

Despite this, the Anglo-Aussie duo had their chances, reaching break point twice but failing to convert. It was to prove costly as Vemic and Lu made their single break point count to take the set.

The second set was a hotly contested affair, with both teams giving up two breaks of serve before being separated by a tiebreak, which Hutchins and Huss sealed to keep the match alive.

But, for the fourth time in five outings on the ATP Tour, the Brit-Aussie pair fell to defeat in the match tie-break.

Brede Hangeland’s been a rock this season. Mark Schwarzer had a great year – I saw him a couple of times at Wimbledon last year, he’s a big tennis fan. Roy Hodgson is a legend as well
