H&H face Matkowski and Fyrstenberg in round two

A round later than expected, Ross Hutchins and Stephen Huss will face Marcin Matkowski and Mariusz Fyrstenberg at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic.

H&H had been due to play the Polish pair in the first round before the draw was shuffled following the withdrawal of top seeds the Bryan brothers.

But after beating alternate pair Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa on Tuesday, the Anglo-Aussie duo were pitted against the No.5-seeded Poles once more after they beat Tomas Berdych and Lukas Dlouhy 7-5 6-3 yesterday.

The match is first up on the Grandstand Arena in Washington, with play scheduled to begin at 4pm EST/9pm GMT.

Hutchins and Huss have played the Poles once already this season, losing 6-4 3-6 6-3 in the second round of the Australian Open.

But for the British No.1, the match will serve as an opportunity to scout Great Britain’s potential Davis Cup doubles opponents.

Team GB face Poland in Liverpool in September shortly after the US Open in a bid to secure their spot in Euro-Africa Zone Group 1.

Matkowski and Fyrstenberg, ranked No.12 and No.13 in the world, lifted their ninth title together in Eastbourne earlier this year.

Indoor hard court. I like grass a lot, but I’m not a big fan of clay
