Garcia-Lopez and Rochus up first in New York…

Ross Hutchins and Stephen Huss will start their US Open bid today, having been named the No.15 seeds for their first US Open together.

The British doubles No.1, who made the second round on his debut at Flushing Meadows last year, and former Wimbledon doubles champion Huss will play Guillermo Garcia-Lopez and Olivier Rochus in the first round.

The match is fifth in line to be played on Court 15, with organisers able to change the match location if necessary.

It looks to be a tough draw for the Anglo-Aussie duo, who could face defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan in the third round – but first they must see off the Spanish-Belgian pair.

Both Rochus and Garcia-Lopez are playing both the singles and doubles draws in New York, and although neither player has made an impact on the doubles circuit this year – Garcia-Lopez is ranked No.608 in the world, while Rochus is unranked – the Spaniard is ranked No.50 in the world in singles, while his Belgian partner is a former Roland Garros doubles champion.

With the 128-strong singles draws dominating the first few days in New York, Hutchins and Huss have until Wednesday to prepare for the match, while Ross will also be involved with practice partner Andy Murray’s preparations over the coming fortnight.
