Hutchins called up for Davis Cup
British doubles No.1 gets the nod for Poland tie…
Ross Hutchins has been named among the Team GB Davis Cup squad for the crucial tie against Poland later this month.
Team GB are in a relegation play-off with Poland to retain their spot in the Euro-Africa Zone Group 1.
The British doubles No.1 joins Andy Murray, Liverpool local Ken Skupski, James Ward, Josh Goodall and Davis Cup debutant Dan Evans in the squad for the crunch tie, to be played at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on September 18-20.
“Everyone is very excited to be playing Davis Cup in Liverpool for the first time,” said Team GB captain John Lloyd. “This is a vital tie for us to avoid relegation and the entire squad is committed to keeping Great Britain in Euro-Africa Zone Group 1 for 2010 and establishing a firm foundation for next year.”
Hutchins is likely to pair up with either Murray or Skupski for Saturday’s doubles rubber, where they may face world No.10 doubles pair Marcin Matkowski and Mariusz Fyrstenberg.
