Rosco and Tecau out in quarters
Butorac and Ram edge tight encounter…
Ross Hutchins and Horia Tecau were edged out of the PTT Thailand Open at the quarter-final stage, beaten 2-6 6-4 10-6 by Eric Butorac and Rajeev Ram.
The British doubles No.1, playing with the Romanian for the first time since splitting with Stephen Huss in September, faced a single break point in the entire match but it proved enough to give the American duo a chance.
After posting a first-round victory over Christopher Kas and Viktor Troicki, Hutchins and Tecau got off to a fine start, breaking their opponents twice to ease to a one-set lead.
But the Anglo-Romanian pair failed to convert either of their two break points in the second, while Butorac and Ram hit back with a single break to level the match.
The Americans were faultless in the match tiebreak, winning all eight points on serve, and although Hutchins and Tecau only missed one first serve Butorac and Ram nicked two points on return to take the match.
The American duo will face Austrian pair Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer in the final four.
Hutchins now moves on to Tokyo for the Japan Open, where he will partner Jordan Kerr.
