Japanese wildcards brushed aside…

Ross Hutchins and Jordan Kerr made light work of local wildcards Go Soeda and Hiroki Kondo to reach the semi-finals of the Japan Open.

The Anglo-Aussie duo took just under an hour to dispatch the Japanese pair 6-2 6-3 with a comprehensive performance, dominating on serve in the first set in which they broke twice.

Soeda and Kondo improved in the second set but five aces and no break points faced summarises the dominance of the British doubles No.1 and his Australian partner, ranked No.35 in the world.

Hutchins and Kerr face Christopher Kas and Jaroslav Levinsky in the final four after the Czech-German pairing followed up a 6-3 6-2 first round win over Marco Chiudinelli and Dominik Meffert with a tight victory over top seeds Michal Mertinak and Frantisek Cermak, 6-7(0) 6-4 12-10.

The semi-final is the first match out on court on Saturday morning, 10am local time/2am BST.
