British duo dispatched in straight sets…

Ross Hutchins and Jordan Kerr are through to the quarter-finals of the Serbia Open after beating Jamie Murray and Jonathan Marray 6-3 6-2.

The Brit-Aussie duo, No.2 seeds at the Belgrade clay court event, wrapped up the win in just 51 minutes, storming through the second set after clinching a decisive break on their only break point against the Scottish duo’s serve in the opener.

“It’s always tricky playing British guys,” Hutchins admitted, “especially when they are good friends and we practice a lot together. It’s one of those things.”

And the 25-year-old is reveling in the return to clay. “It’s served me well over the past couple of years. Tactics change a little because of the slower courts, and rallies are much longer.

“Hopefully we can keep playing well here and then peak for the French Open!”

Hutchins and Kerr next face wildcards David Savic and Dennis Zivkovic, straight-sets victors over Ivan Navarro and Flavio Cipolla in their opening match.

Ask Rosco

Have you ever smashed a racket during a match?

From: Joe B, Exeter

Not in six years, I reckon. I used to do it a lot, but my dad had a massive go at me. Now don’t even drop it. It helps some people, and I think some people do it for show – that’s not for me
