Kohlmann and Damm fall in straight sets…

Ross Hutchins and Jordan Kerr’s US season is up and running after a resounding 6-3 6-3 victory over Michael Kohlmann and Martin Damm in the first round of the Farmers Classic in Los Angeles.

The Brit-Aussie duo, whose US Open preparations stalled after a first round exit in Atlanta last week, were in ruthless form in the first set, breaking twice and producing a near-flawless serving display on serve.

The second set was a tighter affair, with the Czech-German pair fighting to find a foothold in the match. Hutchins and Kerr held off five break points and after trading breaks sealed the match with their fourth break of the contest.

They advance to face Feliciano Lopez and Janko Tipsarevic in the next round after the Serb and Spaniard ousted US duo Sam Querrey and James Blake by the same scoreline.

French Open, 2008. Me and Hussy were last into the draw, and got the No.3 seeds Bhupathi and Knowles in the first round. We beat them in straight sets – that was a breakthrough for both of us
